Pool Safety

Summer is in full swing, the kids are out of school and they are probably looking for a swimming pool to stay cool and enjoy the summer. If you have a pool in your back yard or if you are enjoying a community pool these tips from http://www.poolsafely.gov can prevent a terrible accident:
1) Designate a water watcher every single time children are in my care in or near the water
2) Make sure the kids know how to swim
3) Learn CPR
4) Always remove portable pool ladders when not in use
5) Ensure all permanent pools have a proper fence and gate (with lock) and safe drain covers.
This link http://www.poolsafely.gov/pledge/?page=adult provides more information and videos on each of the above topics.
The website of http://www.pool safely.gov is a wealth of information and also has a Kids Corner with games and videos. It is run by the Consumer Products Safety commission.
Stay safe!
